Archer's on the Pier

Lynn learned her work ethic, how to cook and most of life's lessons in her grandmother's kitchen. Rise early, work hard and eat heartily were all given practices. She has always been on the waterfront, as her father and her three sons are lobstermen. It was only natural that she would build her restaurants on a love of locally sourced ingredients, and a strong sense of community.

The Brass Compass was a staple on Main street in Rockland for twenty years from 2001 - 2021, serving delicious home-cooked breakfasts and lunches to thousands of patrons. Chef and owner Lynn Archer brings the best of both worlds together to the beautiful Archer's location. Archer's on the Pier is open year-round, serving up the best that Maine's beautiful coast has to offer.

She sources food locally. All of her seafood is from Maine and most is from the Midcoast. Local farmers' markets provide cheese, greens and vegetables. Most of her staff has been with her since the day she opened. 'I pay well; I don't tolerate gossip and I never question time off. If you want it, put it on the calendar and you get it. People have lives other than their work and I respect that.'

Lynn is a dynamo who knows the balance between work and play. In her words, 'It's real basic what's good in life.' Today, as a continuation of her early lessons, she cooks and serves food memories for others at her charming coastal spot in the heart of Rockland, Maine.

Lynn Archer

CHEF/OWNER

Lynn spends most of her time at her restaurant, Archer's on the Pier. She starts her days at 5 a.m. preparing homemade soups and fresh baked desserts. Then, the work to prepare homemade delights - including her famous chocolate peanut butter cup cake - begins. Trust us, you do not want to miss this cake!

Her hard work requires playtime, which Lynn spends swimming daily and enjoying scenic rides on her motorcycle. She also spends time every year traveling to Italy and other places in Europe to get fresh perspectives of other cultures' culinary world. If you happened to see Lynn on Food Network's "Lobster Throwdown with Bobby Flay," you won't be disappointed when you meet her in person!
